UV visible Spectroscopy is also known by absorption or reflectance spectroscopy. The instrument use the light in visible and reflection region to identify the substance. It is possible with the help of Lamba Max value that is displayed on the graph after running the sample. At First, the baseline is taken with water or any other sample whose standard lambda max is known. If the sample gives the absorbance range within the standard range, then it means that the instrument is operating is all set and ready to take reading of your prepared samples. Various other graphs can be plotted by taking transmittance, absorbance, etc. on x-axis based upon the interest of findings.
